The portal posts to Facebook and Instagram through one connection. You log in on Meta's official screens, pick which Pages to allow, and you're done. This guide walks you through the whole flow, including the screens that trip people up.
What connecting shares (and what it does not)
You always log in on Meta's own screens, the same ones you would see when connecting any app. The portal never sees or stores your Facebook or Instagram password.
Instead, Meta gives the portal a limited access token - a digital key that only allows what you approved. The portal stores that token encrypted and deletes it the moment you disconnect the account in the portal. Before you start
- You can log in to the Facebook account that manages your Page.
- If your Page is owned by a business portfolio, your personal account has a page-level role on that Page (more on this below).
- If you want Instagram too, your Instagram account is a professional account (Business or Creator) linked to your Facebook Page. See the related article on preparing your Instagram account.
Connect your accounts step by step
- Open the Social area of your portal and choose to connect Facebook and Instagram.
- Log in with Facebook if asked. Use the account that manages your Page.
- Meta shows a screen where you choose what you allow. Keep the requested permissions on so posting, comments, and messages all work.
- On the asset screens, check every Page and Instagram account you want to use. If you see a business portfolio listed, expand it and check the Pages inside it - a collapsed portfolio can hide them.
- Finish the Meta flow. Back in the portal, your Pages and any linked Instagram accounts show up in your list of connected accounts.
Business portfolios: why a Page might not show up
Many Pages are owned by a business portfolio, which is managed at business.facebook.com. During login, Meta only shows those Pages if your personal account has a page-level role on them. Having access to the portfolio alone is not enough.

Give yourself a page-level role
- Go to business.facebook.com and open Settings.
- Open People and select yourself (or whoever will do the connecting).
- Assign the missing Pages to that person. Full control is recommended so every portal feature works.
- Reconnect in the portal. Meta's screens appear again - expand the portfolio and check the Page this time.
How Instagram rides along
Instagram professional accounts do not connect on their own. Each one appears through the Facebook Page it is linked to. If your Instagram account is missing, make sure it is a Business or Creator account and that it is linked to a Page you checked during the connect flow. Adding more Pages later
You can add Pages anytime by reconnecting. Reconnecting always re-shows Meta's permission and asset screens, so check the new Page and keep everything you already allowed checked. Reconnecting is also the fix when a new portal feature needs a permission you have not granted yet.
